Union Payroll Specialist

Standard Drywall, Inc. is seeking an experienced Union Payroll Specialist to support full-cycle weekly payroll for employees across multiple offices and states. This position works closely with Payroll, Human Resources, Operations and Management and requires a strong understanding of union payroll, wage and fringe benefit requirements, payroll compliance and reporting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly, multi-state payroll for employees represented by multiple unions, including Carpenters, Laborers and Tapers.
- Apply union time and attendance requirements, including base wages and fringe benefits.
- Review new-hire payroll records and help ensure compliance with applicable federal and state wage and hour laws and union agreements.
- Review and enter weekly timecards and payroll batches.
- Process direct deposits and paper checks.
- Administer payroll taxes, benefits, union dues, fringe benefits, garnishments, 401(k) deferrals and other payroll deductions.
- Prepare and process union payments, payroll tax deposits and required reporting accurately and on time.
- Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly payroll reports for management.
- Support journal entries, account reconciliations and general ledger activities.
- Maintain required federal, state and local workforce reporting, registrations and tracking.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee questions, employment verifications and other payroll-related issues.
- Support workers’ compensation audits, union audits and related claims in coordination with Human Resources.
- Communicate clearly, professionally and respectfully with employees and personnel at all levels of the organization.
- Perform other payroll and administrative duties as needed.

- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
