The Safety Technician plays a critical role in promoting and maintaining the highest standards of jobsite safety. Working both independently and in collaboration with SDI superintendents and project teams, this position helps foster a proactive safety culture across all phases of construction. Leveraging a strong understanding of OSHA standards, as well as state and local safety regulations, the Safety Technician provides ongoing guidance, identifies and addresses immediate hazards, and helps mitigate potential risks before they impact the jobsite.
Key Responsibilities
Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture across all phases of the projectConduct regular jobsite audits and inspections to verify compliance and identify unsafe conditions or behaviorsPartner with field superintendents and project teams to enforce safety policies, procedures, and best practicesMaintain documentation required for compliance with the Site Safety Management Plan, OSHA standards, and applicable state and local regulationsLead and document safety meetings, trainings, inspections, and safety committee activitiesAssist with incident investigations, corrective actions, and recommendations to prevent recurrenceCoordinate and communicate with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies regarding safety-related matters, audits, site visits, claims, and citationsVerify subcontractor compliance with project-specific safety requirements and Site Safety Management PlansAdapt to a fast-paced, dynamic construction environment while supporting SDI’s core values and project goalsPerform additional duties as assignedQualifications
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practicesUnderstanding of construction jobsite environments and associated hazardsAbility to develop and implement Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and Pre-Task Plans (PTPs)Strong verbal and written communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointOrganized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple prioritiesTeam-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindsetExperience working on framing and drywall construction projects preferredExperience & Education
Minimum 3 years of construction industry experience requiredOSHA 30-Hour Certification requiredWhy Join Us?
